Dr. Brian E. Smith, MD

Dr. Brian Smith is board certified in Anesthesiology.

Dr. Smith completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Stanford University after an internal medicine internship. A 1991 graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, his undergraduate degree is a BS in Biology from the University of Puget Sound.

After his Anesthesiology residency at Stanford, he joined the Laboratory for Human Performance in Health Care at the Palo Alto VA as a Research Fellow in 1996. His research interests included patient safety in healthcare, Crisis Resource Management (CRM) and realistic simulation technology, and human factors & performance, ergonomics, and fatigue.

Dr. Smith currently enjoys private practice cardiac and general anesthesia cases. He is a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists and numerous other medical and specialty societies. Dr. Smith currently serves as the medical director of anesthesiology at Washington Hospital Health System.
